(jiří macek) Kartell Café definitely ranked among the most popular places at Designblok this year. This café, complete with a children’s corner and a night bar, was located in the Designblok Superstudio. Its outstanding design was made by the studio of Hippos design.
Radim Babák and Ondřej Tobola from the studio of Hippos design wove the café from red ropes. Literally. First, there were red clews flying through the air for several days until the bright red net covered the entire space; then the café noise headed in the same direction. The simple illuminated styrofoam bar with ropes created an impressive frame in which one could find the entire current collection of the renowned Italian brand. Dominant amphoras designed by Starck and ceiling lights designed by Laviani permeated the net, where people spent much time nested by café tables. This was simply a model café, a space with many inventions by Kartell.
