(jiří macek) The Dutch studio of Weltevree has contributed to fans of nature and joy in general with the Divewood mobile diving board, the Dutchtub 2P outdoor tub (with fire as the source of hot water), and the Outdooroven outdoor fireplace. One could find their designs at Design Week in Milan as part of the presentation of Arnheim. They were simply unforgettable. It is certainly time to start talking about summer.
The installation, in which Weltevree artfully hid their symbolical chalet among the scapes of 2-meter high artificial grass, is concerned primarily with summer. Apart from the diving board and the bathtub, the installation contained other items from their catalogue, including the two most famous ones – the Stonestove tile stove and the rustic mobile Wheelbench. All the designs involved summer or at least romantic images of summer holidays in the country. Weltevree adjusted the past to modern needs, giving them mobility and interesting structural solutions. Thus, nature and traditional country life seem to us as contemporary sources of new joys and experiences.
The studio, which was founded in 2007 by the designer trio of Floris Schoonderbeek (b.1979), Rogier Martens (b.1978) and Dick van Hoff (b.1972), ranks among the new labels that, like Extremis and Quinze & Milan, present original series of authentic objects linked with specific designers.
