(jiří macek) The Instant Seat collection of armchairs, designed by Matali Crasset for the French brand of Moustache, has been enriched with new pieces – an armchair with an armrest, a coffee table, and a table. Fans of country life, puzzles, and mathematical teasers must be enchanted with the new items because their structure is based on simple combinations of several plane profiles made from birch plywood.
This recipe for joy à la Matali Crasset is simple – the user assembles clear, tight-fitting lines from incised plywood profiles. The structure makes the neo-rustic shape come forward and vice versa. The whole facilitates the manufacturing process. This is a puzzle. One does not have to think hard to enjoy the naturalness of the origin and harmonious life that the armchairs evoke. The dining table and the artful Instant De Vie coffee table are designed along the same lines. Platforms for coffee cups, vases, and flower pots sprout from the basic plane. The combination of a flower table with a coffee table makes conversation easier. One always has coffee at hand. The flowers can create an inner universe, an intimate space for close friends. Everything that Matali Crasset has designed seems to bear this touch of intimacy, simplicity, and naturalness, as if the designer made her designs for her closest friends only and built new landscapes by means of 3D. Her designs are really beautiful.
