(adam štěch) Mykita, the iconic manufacturer of glasses, has presented a special project made in collaboration with designer Romain Kremer as part of the new autumn/winter 2010 collection. The YURI glasses are not only a symbolic homage to the first man in outer space.
The Berlin-based brand of Mykita, which manufactures glasses manually on principle from materials that boast the best features, is slowly expanding in all directions. Apart from new boutiques that have recently opened in Zurich and Monterrey, the brand has also launched an unexpected collaboration with the avant-garde designer Romain Kremer, who experiments with the traditional men’s outfit in his collections and dresses his models in neon, plastic, and light rainbow colors. Thus, this designer, who works in Paris, presented the glasses designed for Mykita at the show for his autumn/winter 2010 collection. The glasses by Kremer demonstrate that our brain is our third eye and, in fact, the most important one. For this reason, he decided for the form of a simple futuristic helmet that protects both eyes and the head. The retro-futuristic shape of this conceptual fashion accessory is reminiscent of equipment from the first cosmonauts, such as Yuri Gagarin, after whom the glasses are named. Thus, each of us can become a cosmonaut and a prefect new outer space creature after we put on the YURI glasses.
