(jana zielinski) The Vitra company is one step ahead again. It decided to brand its new product – the Basel chair by Jasper Morrison – in the same manner as the most prominent world fashion labels.
There is a relatively large Vitra logo imprinted upon the backrest of this minimalist, yet very lovely chair. You will be able to purchase the original piece at the end of this year. Vitra – the world’s number one chair manufacturer – has launched its very first chair made solely from wood. Actually, the company is presenting two new chairs. Another star of world design, Hella Jongerius, has designed a second wooden chair for Vitra. Because she is a patriot, her chair has been dubbed the Rotterdam. Crafted in beautiful shades of grey, beige, and white, the chair is a bit rustic and can straddle any setting properly. Thus, Hella Jongerius proves that she has a feeling for forms, decorations, as well as colours. Vitra did not assign her without reason to select new colour shades for its iconic pieces, such as the Panton chair and several pieces by Charles and Ray Eames. In Milan, one could hardly enter the Vitra stall because it was so crowded. Have a look why…
