(jana zielinski) The German designer Benjamin Hopf, who works in Munich and visited Designblok in 2004 as a member of the Büro für Form studio, has established his own studio under the name of Formagenda. From its very first project, one can see that Benjamin is in very good form.
He presented several lights in a world premiere at the Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt am Main. We were truly fascinated by the Network lamp - a.k.a. String Bag. A luminous ball stuck inside a net is made in both white and burlap versions. Looking at it, many of us will remember heading out for a game of volleyball with a similar object in our hands. Benjamin Hopf must have carried his volleyball in a shopping bag as well…
Apart from string bags, the Formagenda studio also presented luxury leather lights in the form of a leather pencil case on a fluorescent lamp. One can choose white, beige, or dark brown leather. Nothing remains but to conclude, “Finally somebody has managed to show that a fluorescent lamp can be beautiful,” and to agree with Oscar Wilde, who said, “Form is everything. It is the secret of life.”
Büro für Form was represented by Qubus in the Czech Republic. It may be a good location for Formagenda as well.
