(jiří macek) Fashion designer Hana Zárubová and graphic designer Štěpán Malovec introduced their new fashion brand of No at Designblok. The combination of the color black and various numbers will make us all feel dizzy. Actually, black was the color of Hana Zárubová’s first collection, not the name of her brand. The collection was very sporty and elegant.
“I prefer the type of fashion that combines elegance with sport and comfort. I think it’s been missing on the Czech market for a long time. I tried to come up with several basic pieces of clothing that everybody uses daily. I wanted to give them a new form. But at the same time, I wanted to respect the shape of the human body and the artistry of fabrication. I wanted to have the job done properly with all details. As a result, it’s a play of contrasts. But that’s exactly what I like about it,” says Hana Zárubová, who was nominated for the Fashion Designer of the Year Czech Grand Design Award the past two years.
In the field of graphic design, Štěpán Malovec is Hana’s counterpart. You might remember his name, especially from his works for the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, plus the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
Thanks to both these artists, you can enjoy the unexpected combination of elegance and tracksuit fabric decorated by distinctive numbers. On the T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, or even on an elegant leather bag, you can find the labels No1 – No9.
“What will come next? No10, No11, No12, etc. We’d like to launch a new series every half a year. The numbering facilitates orientation and ordering via our e-shop. Apart from that – the numbers are marvelous!” Hana Zárubová says.
Numbers and a distinct graphic style also dominated the box installation of the No label at Designblok within the Fashion Designers Catwalk. While the clothing numbers finished with nine, the number of people interested in them could be counted in tens or even hundreds. However, forget about mass production of No’s clothing. Each garment will be produced only in a few pieces. The garments are not formal solitaires, but everyday clothing. Anyway, who would be happy about always meeting people in the same clothes?
Soon you will be able to order the garments on www.nofashion.cz.
