(jiří macek) Diesel, accompanied by X-Ray music, vintage aesthetics, irony, and a rough underground touch, has entered the world of furniture with the Successful Living collection of furniture pieces, created in collaboration with the elite furniture brand of Moroso.
The collection, designed by the Diesel team and Moroso, was led by the creative director of the Diesel street-wear brand, Wilbert Dasi. Alluding to club life, rock, and street-wear fashion, they approached furniture in an unbiased manner. The collection includes punk-like barstools tipped with metal, the Flightcase dresser reminiscent of a box for illuminators or sound men, the Nebula Nine Sofa embellished with countless cushions, and the essential Ego Stud mirror for future idols. However, the collection is dominated by the Overdyed Side Chairs made from hand-painted wood and wire that look as if they had been made in a biker’s garage. DJ counters are also reflected in the collection – for example, on the Xraydio 2 Disc table.
“The best thing in this collection is its difference,” explains Patricia Moroso in relation to the collection designed entirely by the Diesel creative team. “It interconnects two completely different ideas. One of them is its dark look, inspired by underground aesthetics, including its aggressiveness; the other one represents lightness and radiance inspired by nature.” It is a very strange collection indeed - the fashion tendencies of the clothing industry are projected into the furniture world, working within a specific lifestyle that it transforms into an environment. The furniture seems to have been made to fit inside photos from nightclubs and home parties.
The Prague premiere of the collection will take place at Designblok in October. Visitors can also have a look at it in the Konsepti showroom.
