(jiří macek) The master of simplicity, Naoto Fukasawa, has designed a bench and a table conceived as minimized graceful tree trunks, logs, and chopping blocks for the Swedish brand of Swedese. The formal austerity Scandinavia now encounters its Japanese counterpart. However, they seem to have known each other from time immemorial.
Naoto Fukaawa ranks among the stars of contemporary Japanese design. He is a master of simplicity whose works can be found both in his own store, plusminuszero, as well as in the catalogues of many foreign brands. He and Jasper Morrison represent the greatest figures of contemporary minimalism. Moreover, they often exhibit together as if they were leading a dialogue from a distance. The exhibition, entitled Supernormal, was a manifesto of their common perspective of the world of things.
