(jiří macek) If you really enjoyed the Dvě (Two) series of photos by Tereza Vlčková in the last issue of the Blok magazine, you can take delight in it in Opava and on our server.
Of course, standing in the Cabinet of Photography in the Dům umění (House of Art) in Opava is a bit different experience than looking at photos on the computer. However, we are happy to show you other photos from the series of twins. However, I mean imaginary twins. Tereza Vlčková actually took photos of girls that are not actually twins. “Every person has his/her other self who we carry inside or somebody who is kindred both mentally and physically,” explains Vlčková. The essential photographic theme of the Two series is also the ease with which we can change reality into fiction and vice versa. As if the stylization and atmosphere of the overall concept of the photos led us out of our time and space and into another. Either it is about children or we have entered a world of a different type. “I tried to question the deeply-rooted role of children bound with loveliness, playfulness, and childishness. I wanted to point at their personalities,” says Vlčková, who studies at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava and at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. Recently, she has had two exhibitions at the Transphotographiques festival of photography in Lille: the Little Garden exhibition of fashion photography and the exhibition of the Two series. The exhibition in the House of Art in Opava is open until August 10, 2008. One can also see the other series of photos from the issue No. 17 of Blok – A Perfect Day, Elise…, a collection that makes one want to jump for joy.
