Mats Theselius: Hermit’s Cabins

(jiří macek) Although the lot-produced cabin represents a very boring solution for relaxation in a Czech gardening colony, one can see many designs in Scandinavia that will take his/her breath away. One of the first ones is the Hermit’s Cabin, the prototype of which was designed by Mats Theselius in 1999.   ...more

Anna van der Lei: Would Anyone Like to Have a Bath?

(jiří macek) Even though many Czech bathrooms have recently undergone interesting changes, they are still not the real thing, in my opinion. They still represent a separated part of the apartment, usually windowless, which has nothing in common with swimming in a lake or a river. Anna van der Lei sees Dutch bathrooms in the same way and presents a solution to this problem.   ...more

Weltevree: Summer Joys

(jiří macek) The Dutch studio of Weltevree has contributed to fans of nature and joy in general with the Divewood mobile diving board, the Dutchtub 2P outdoor tub (with fire as the source of hot water), and the Outdooroven outdoor fireplace. Thus, her artful bowl seems to be twisted up from cotton yarns and symbolizes all phone the calls that travelled through the colorful spectrum over the course of the active life of the wires and a recording of one summer.   ...more

Gerd Couckhuyt: Zuri, please

(jiří macek) If there was one thing the movie Fifth Element lacked, it certainly was the Zuri club in the Belgian town of Knokke. Its snow-white stylish interior, designed by Gerd Couckhuyt, together with a unique light system by Modular, makes one feel like Mila Jovovich is always very close at hand.  ...more

Bonacina: The Most Beautiful Beach Cubicles

(jana zielinski) Mary Bloch designed these fascinating cubicles for Italian beaches in 1962. They are available in two versions: with pink and white stripes or with grey and white stripes. I prefer the pink one. Actually, the grey one would suit Marcello Mastroianni really well.  ...more
